Making Objects from the Applied Art Department Suitable for Removal into New Storage Facilities

The collection of lamps from the Applied Arts Department of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam contains approximately 280 objects. On behalf of the removal of this collection to the newly built storage facilities on Gyroscoopweg in the western part of the Amsterdam harbour area, the objects had to be properly prepared for moving. The conditions of the current housing were not ideal and there was most definitely a lack of maintenance. To make it possible to move the objects to the new housing, the lamps first had to be cleaned of dust and then had to be checked for defects. After a brief survey, Iconoco cleaned the items professionally with a vacuum cleaner and brush. Then they were wrapped up in Tyvec in order to keep it clean from further dirt and dust.
